Gratitude means thankfulness.
It’s about noticing simple pleasures, and appreciating everything you have. At withinUs we practice a ‘gratitude type of attitude’ which helps us stay positive, and focus on the little things we are grateful for every day.
This week, we have asked some of our TruSupporters and community leaders to share what they are thankful for in their lives.
"I’m grateful for my platform, that I can use it to raise money and awareness for many different things, help small local businesses I believe in, and can reach young women, addressing social media struggles. And mostly, I am thankful for all the love and support I have in my life."
"My children and I practice weekly gratitudes. When I put them to bed at night, we often talk about two things we were grateful for that day. It's my favourite part of the day. Their responses fill up my heart. One gratitude I recently shared last week with them was my recent experience in Kenya with Vancouver charity One Girl Can. To have the privilege to travel to Africa and connect in such a meaningful way with so many of the girls was both inspiring and rejuvenating".

"Every morning I wake up with happy, healthy children and an amazing husband. I live in a beautiful city, in an amazing country and I go to a job I love. I’m grateful for all of these things…I am so thankful for the love of my family and friends and the ability to use my voice to assist others."
"I am incredibly grateful for my freedom. My freedom to explore this beautiful world, meet people from different cultures and adventure to new places."

"I am grateful for the love, humor and support of my family."
"I am grateful that I’ve been able to turn my passion of helping people lose weight into a career that I love that provides me the fleixablity to be able to raise 4 children on my own while maintaining a work life balance. I am also grateful for good friends who have been there providing their love and support."
"I'm grateful for my family and my newest love, my 11 week old son. He has taught me so much in the little time we've known each other."
"I am grateful for my amazing parents who supported all that I wanted to do and taught me to have fun in life, take chances, stay positive, love and laugh each day. They inspire me to be better and do better."
"I am especially grateful for having a gratitude attitude. I wasn’t always this way, and when I wasn’t grateful for everything in my life, it was hard to get out of a negative mindset and feel truly happy. However, once I became grateful for everything in my life (especially the challenging times) I started to feel like everything in my life is enough. Challenges were there to teach me things about myself and once I began to live in this mindful way, appreciating everything in my life (good and bad) I became truly happy. I have three beautiful daughters, a funny, selfless husband, a roof over my head, a tribe of family & friends who make me feel seen, valued and heard, my health and a wonderful community I’ve built through my blog. One of my favourite quotes on gratitude is “ It is not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy” In other words, gratitude is the answer if we want to be truly happy - on the inside."
"I am grateful for a resilient body and every finish line it carries me across. We can't always prevent injury, we may not always be able to run our fastest, but we can impact how strong we feel, and how well we bounce back. I am grateful for all the things I've learned about health and wellness, and knowing how to apply this to my recovery, helping keep me active for a lifetime."
"I’m incredibly grateful for the time to decompress, unplug and relax. It is a really great reminder of the importance of self care, and got me thinking about ways I can add a few more ‘me time’ practices into my every-day routines. I’ve also been fortunate to meet so many wonderful new friends this year. I’m grateful for the energy that they bring, as well as their ability to motivate and inspire me daily. Spending time with them truly make me a better person!"

"I am grateful for so many things in my life.
I was lucky enough to travel to Myanmar, and then to Cambodia with UNICEF....both very poor countries. On both trips, I commented on how lucky I was, as a Canadian, to be born into a country with so many opportunities....where we never have to worry about heated, running water and where we have easy access to healthcare, should we need it. This is something I always took for granted, until I saw that it was such a luxury for people in many countries.
It is also not difficult to feel grateful for living in a peaceful country, when so often we hear about wars being fought in many parts of our world. I can't imagine the fear that so many must deal with on a daily basis....something we will surely never comprehend.
I am grateful to be living in such a beautiful city, with many friends and my family.... and also grateful to have the opportunity to be able to travel as much as I do, to experience different cultures and see how other people live."
The benefits of practicing gratitude are abundant. It is excellent for your physical and emotional health - keeping you positive and grounded. Although it takes some practice, if we start to incorporate an attitude of gratitude in our daily lives, it is a habit you won’t soon want to break.
