I’m sharing my personal 10 ways to exercise self-care, not only for Valentine's Day but every day.
- IT’S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY
You are who you are - perfectly imperfect. Acceptance is the key to self-care. Once you stop comparing yourself to others, you begin to live your life unapologetically and that is a beautiful thing.
- NOURISH YOUR MIND, BODY, AND SOUL
Invest in yourself and enjoy the benefits long term. Choose to eat foods like green leafy vegetables or hearty stews that provide your body with an abundance of vitamins and minerals. Read books or listen to podcasts that provide you with knowledge and opinions of the world. Challenge yourself to be your best self.
- YOUR VIBE ATTRACTS YOUR TRIBE
You are who you surround yourself with. Spend time with people that elevate and inspire you. Also, be sure to thank those that invest the same amount of time and energy into cultivating meaningful relationships with you and celebrate your wins.
- PAMPER = HAPPY CAMPER
Who deserves a day at the spa? You do! Gifting yourself the time to relax and unwind is an act of self-care that speaks volumes. Help reset the tension you’ve been holding onto. This can even be something as simple as going to bed an hour earlier than usual.
- ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
Take the time to actively notice and show gratitude for various things in life. This means all aspects regardless of how big or small. In order to receive abundance, you must show gratitude for what you already have.
- OUT WITH THE OLD
The art of decluttering goes a long way. A cluttered space cultivates a chaotic mind and overwhelming emotions that can trigger irritability. The more energy that can freely circulate around us, the easier it becomes to feel free of upsetting emotions.
- GLOW SOLO
Get comfortable with being alone. At first spending time alone can be challenging. With anything that happens outside of your comfort zone, you need to push past the negative thoughts and choose to dive off the deep end. Remember, being alone doesn’t mean you’re lonely.
- NO PHONE ZONE
Somehow devices that were created to connect us have actually made us disconnect - from reality that is. Constant stimulation of perfectly curated lives tricks us into thinking that’s how our lives “should” be. Take some time to detox from technology and get in tune with your body, thoughts and emotions.
- “NO” IS THE NAME OF THE GAME
Sometimes it can feel as though you are in a constant battle with your time. The only person, however, truly responsible for where your time and energy is allocated is you. Kindly turning down social gatherings, or family parties is perfectly fine! People pleasing can hinder productivity in various aspects of your life. Focus on the things you truly want to be doing and happiness will follow.
- WHEN IN DOUBT, READ IT OUT
