With our growing product line, including various ‘+ TruMarine™ Collagen’ products, we often get the question from our customers: ‘Can I take too much TruMarine collagen?’. 

A quick refresher: What is TruMarine™ Collagen?

Collagen is one of the most prominent and important structural proteins in the body. It plays a pivotal role in ensuring cohesion, elasticity, and regeneration of skin, bones, tendons, ligaments, and skeletal muscles. 

The source of your collagen is KEY.  withinUs TruMarine™ Collagen is the absolute highest grade of collagen peptides available, and is sustainably sourced, non-GMO Project Verified, and stringently tested for all heavy metals. What makes our collagen far superior to other low-grade collagen (such as bovine, chicken, and even fish skin collagen) is the source.

Our premium-select grade source is exclusively from the scales of wild-caught, sustainably-sourced fish, it also has been clinically proven to have 1.5 times the absorption rate as any other collagen sources.  Our product is regulated and approved by Health Canada, free of additives and preservatives, and soluble in hot or cold liquids — making it easy to incorporate into your daily life.  Try adding a scoop into smoothies, juices, lemon water, tea, or coffee. 

How much TruMarine™ Collagen should I take daily? 

withinUs TruMarine™ Collagen claims are all Health Canada approved, including the daily recommended serving to experience benefits. The daily recommended serving of withinUs TruMarine™ Collagen is 5 grams (1 scoop/stick pack). Other low-quality collagen products on the market recommend 10-20 grams per day as they have a lower absorption rate (bioavailability) and are not absorbed and utilized in the body as effectively. Our customers that are severely depleted in collagen levels, due to stress, diet and those with  osteoarthritis, we recommend starting with 10g of our product for 4 weeks, and then lowering the intake to 5g will boost collagen levels in your body. After approximately 4 weeks the body's collagen levels plateau, and 5g daily or TruMarine Collagen will maintain the collagen production in the body.

It is important to note that consuming more than 5 grams of TruMarine™ Collagen per day is not harmful to the body.  Every product we offer has a different function and the benefit of having TruMarine Collagen in these products is an added boost and completely safe.

Unlike other supplements, collagen is not foreign to our bodies because it is naturally occurring and produced from within. From our mid twenties, however, this natural production slows down causing us to lose approximately 1% of our collagen each year.

withinUs TruMarine™ Collagen contains 18 amino acids — 8 of which are essential. To break it down, collagen is 95% protein, but what makes it different from other protein sources is its unique concentration of three specific amino acids: Hydroxyproline, Proline, and Glycine.

The extra essential amino acids consumed when taking more than 5g of withinUs TruMarine™ Collagen can be beneficial within the body (outside of collagen production) as they are at the core of many vital body processes such as tissue growth, energy production, immune function and nutrient absorption.

Can I combine withinUs products that contain TruMarine™ Collagen?

Yes, in fact we encourage you to try different combinations of our products to come up with delicious and exciting beverages (our team is always looking for recipe ideas).

Each of our ‘+ TruMarine Collagen’ products contains 2.5g of withinUs TruMarine™ Collagen per serving. This line includes our Coconut Creamer, Matcha Misto, Cacao Misto, ReHydrate, Golden Glow and Magnesium products. The only ‘+TruMarine Collagen’ product that is an exception to this is our Plant Protein + TruMarine Collagen which contains a full serving (5g) of TruMarine™ Collagen per serving. 


Suggestions for how to combine products throughout the day: 

  1. Mix 1 tbsp of Matcha Misto with 2 tbsp of Coconut Creamer
  2. Mix 2 tbsp of Coconut Creamer with 2 tbsp scoop of Cacao Misto
  3. Mix ½ scoop of TruMarine™ Collagen with 1 scoop of Magnesium
  4. Mix 1 scoop of ReHydrate lemon with 1 scoop of ReHydrate Tropical
  5. Enjoy lemon water with ½ scoop TruMarine™ Collagen in the morning, and Matcha Misto, or Coconut Creamer in coffee in the afternoon

Our withinUs TruOrganic Matcha and TruOrganic MCT are two products that do not contain collagen, however, make great additions to our ‘+ TruMarine Collagen’ products. 

Suggestions:

  1. 1 tbsp of Coconut Creamer and 1tbsp of TruOrganic MCT in coffee 
  2. 1 tsp of TruOrganic Matcha and 2 tbsp of Coconut Creamer in hot water 
  3. 1 tbsp of TruOrganic MCT and 2 tbsp of Cacao Misto in hot water or steamed milk 
  4. 1 tsp of TruOrganic Matcha and 1 scoop of TruMarine Collagen in hot water 
  5. 1 tbsp of Matcha Misto and 1 tbsp of TruOrganic MCT in hot water
