From Them, For Us
A tribute to the values, habits, and wellness stories shared by fathers and father figures in our community
Fatherhood isn’t defined by a single moment. It’s shaped over time, through steady presence, quiet leadership, and values passed down every day. At withinUs, we honour the men who have shaped our lives through words and their resilience, rituals, and unwavering presence.
Through morning routines, mindset shifts, and intentional living, these stories reveal how men in our community stay grounded, prioritize well-being, and make a meaningful impact on themselves and those they care for.

On wellness:
"Wellness, for me, is all-encompassing: physical, mental, spiritual, and soulful. When you’re feeling off, you have to tune in and ask yourself what needs to change. Over the years, through my own highs and lows, I’ve learned that wellness isn’t something you check off a list. It needs to be rooted deep within you. It’s what allows you to keep showing up."
On his daughter, Christie:
"My favourite thing about Christie is her passion. Her passion for life, for relationships, for her work. You don’t see that kind of spark in everyone. It’s something really special."

Father, withinUs Ambassador
On a wellness routine shared by family:
My name is Glen Harris, and I have osteoarthritis in both knees. My right one’s been giving me trouble since 2009. About nine years ago, my daughter Jillian [Harris] suggested I try withinUs TruMarine Collagen. I wasn’t sure it would do much, but I gave it a shot.
Over time, I started noticing a real difference: less pain and more flexibility. Then I stopped taking it for a bit, just to see. Sure enough, the stiffness and discomfort came right back.
Since then, my wife Peggy and I have added it to our morning smoothies. It hasn’t taken all the pain away, but it’s made things a lot more manageable. I move more easily, I feel better, and I’ve stuck with it ever since.

On wellness habits:
Taking the time to pause between moments allows me to really stay present when moving from one meeting, commute, or conversation to another.
On what fatherhood has taught him:
Life’s special moments feel even more meaningful when you see them happen to your kids. Take the time to slow down and really appreciate them when you recognize them.

On wellness habits:
Starting the day with quiet time and movement, whether it’s a walk outside with my dog or a quick workout, helps keep me grounded. Making time first thing in the morning without screens gives me space to stay centred for everything else the day brings.
On lessons from his father:
My dad taught me that consistency matters more than intensity. Whether it’s cooking a simple homemade meal or sticking to a daily exercise routine, showing up with intention every day creates a steady rhythm. Over time, that rhythm builds a strong foundation and turns habits into second nature.
These stories aren’t just about wellness. They’re about presence, purpose, and the ways men continue to shape the lives around them through care, intention, and quiet leadership.
To the men who move us, thank you for the lessons, the laughter, and the steady example.
Your stories remind us to keep showing up for ourselves and for each other.
